Machine gun LED

He's my how to make a metal LED machine gun.

First off start with a 1.5mm2 through crimp (it's basically what electricians using for joining cables)

Remove the plastic to leave the metal tube. Careful not to damage the metal with the knife.

Here we have the rest of the bits, heat shrink and bright red small LED. I used the drill bit to ream the end out so the LED would sit better.

Shrink the heat shrink to hold it all together and, Finished product.

As with all LED make sure you use a resistor.

Yeah I had a box lying around and saw a few ready made MG ones available online and thought if it was possible to use the through crimp.

Not certain how accurate the scale is. I found mine was about same diameter as a 3.2mm drill bit so 51.2mm full size. Not certain dimensions of proper guns.

That sounds about right. A 30 cal browning with the air cooling jacket is just under 2" in diameter (so about 50-ish mm), the MG34's used in tanks had a thicker armoured barrel than the standard infantry weapon so would be more or less the same. Neat job BTW.... I knocked up an LED co-ax MG for a Sherman recently & used aluminium tube with an internal diameter just over 1mm which fitted into a 1.5mm drill hole, a bit of fibre optic filament and the LED held onto the back of the tube with heat shrink stuff.

Cheers PP. Good to know I'm within 1mm or so even if by chance. :D
